Many individuals find it difficult to understand and manage their mental health, whether it’s the distress from negative thoughts, issues with anger management, or the fear and uncertainty that life brings. This often results in feelings of being stuck, misunderstood, or overwhelmed.
I provide evidence-based, empathetic care to tailor treatment to each individual’s needs. I focus on psychoeducation, building resilience, and offering the tools necessary to manage mental health issues effectively. My goal is to help clients understand their challenges, gain control over their lives, and work toward sustainable, positive changes. I create a compassionate environment where clients can feel supported as they navigate their mental health journey.

About Mari:
The human mind is an exceptionally powerful thing. Each of us sees the world through the frames of our minds, which are coloured by the varied experiences of our past. Although at times it does not feel like it, we have the power to build new lenses and to interact with the world, with others, and with ourselves in different ways. We cannot change our experiences, but we can change how we understand and respond to their aftereffects in order to care for ourselves. I want to highlight the strength involved in taking this first step toward claiming your power and bringing your well-being into your own hands. Seeking out therapy is a difficult step for many people. It takes resilience to advocate for your own well-being.
I hold a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Concordia University. I have over 7 years of clinical experience, working with clients across the lifespan in various settings, including community-based, private practice, school, Mohawk reserve, and psychiatric hospital settings. My treatment approach is rooted primarily in principles of Third Wave Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. Among other approaches, I often draw upon tools from Mindful Self Compassion Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Emotion-Focused Therapy. I am a firm believer that, to understand who we are now, how we exist within the world currently, and how to find a healthy path forward, it is important to explore our past experiences. As such, I acknowledge that no two people are alike and, therefore, no two courses of therapy should be the same.
My approach is client-centred, tailored toward the individual working with me. To facilitate this, it is necessary to develop a collaborative relationship with my client, as nobody is more of an expert on you than you are. I offer a judgement-free environment characterized by compassion and empathy. I know it can take time to feel safe with a new person and I strive to honour the time you need to feel safe in exploring your inner world. It is my honour to be able to meet you where you are and help to guide you on a path of self-discovery and healing. I look forward to our work together.

Registered Clinical Psychologist & Primary Supervisor
My intention as a therapist is to help you overcome barriers to change, open up to experience, and increase trust in yourself. Together we will shed light on how your emotions, thoughts, and behaviours make sense, so that you can improve your self-understanding and make meaningful choices that allow you to grow.
There is no wrong place to start and I will meet you right where you are in your process. For so many of us, anger, shame, sadness, and fear were necessary defenses against past experiences. I will meet you from a non-judgmental place so that you can safely observe these thoughts and emotions and learn to relate to yourself and others in healthier ways.
My training primarily focused on ACT and process-based CBT approaches, but included psychodynamic and DBT orientations as well, esp. in working with challenges related to personality.
